DVD Player From Mars: “Tenet”, “Dune”, “No Time to Die”… no movies for this month:
Dear people on Earth,
I heard from my sources that you’ve been going through some hard times there. Something about a virus spreading all over the planet and other unfortunate events. And we all hope that everything will be settled quickly on your planet.
However, we the Martians, are all here waiting for new CDs to arrive. We were so bored that we rewatched all the movies from previous years. We even watched the so-called sci-fi movie “the Martian” (2015) several times, even though we find it incredibly ridiculous and unrealistic.
Anyway, it came to my attention that there are some movies to be released, and I hope that you’ll send them as soon as possible. In the meantime, this is my list of favorites:
No Time to Die
Honestly, I’ve grown to have great appreciation for the James Bond series, especially the earlier movies: “From Russia with Love” (1963) and “Goldfinger” (1964). Yet, I can’t make my mind about James Bond’s Daniel Craig era. So far, my favorite by him is Casino Royale (2006); I think that Martin Campbell did a good job in that one. On the other hand, in regard of the other movies, Quantum of Solace in my opinion is really bad, and the later movies are OK.
Except for IT, I am not too familiar with Cary Joji Fukunaga works so I hope that he’ll make something good out of this coming movie. This movie, would be probably the last Craig outing as 007. And I’m just looking forward to watching it.
I am so excited about the last Christopher Nolan movie. I’ve always been fond of his movies and I watched them all -Inception, Interstellar, The Prestige, and Dunkirk… – again and again.
To my knowledge, and I can be wrong, Tenet is a sci-fi thriller about a man in the future on a mission to save the entire world. And Tenet could be a gun or some magic word? Who knows?
Also, I heard that Nolan crashed a real plane (a Boeing 747) instead of a miniature! I think that “was bold to the point of ridiculousness” as Pattinson said!
It seems that the 1965 sci-fi novel by Frank Herbert still gets attention until today.
The arrival (2016) and The Blade Runner 2049 (2017), which were both astonishing sci-fi movies, said enough about Denis Villeneuve‘s talent. The real question will be whether Villeneuve can exceed and surpass David Lynch’s version. I look forward to finding the answer.
The cast includes Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson and Jason Momoa.
West Side Story
Frankly, I’m not greatly fond of romantic musical dramas, but I’ll gladly make an exception for Steven Spielberg. The director of Jaws and Indiana Jones can always make exciting movies. This will be a new experience for the director and us. We’ll find out what this musical might look like in December.
One last thing: I heard that there will be a new Batman movie next year. I need your confirmation.
Always happy to hear from you.
Peace on earth.
P.S. I watched Evangelion like you suggested. Better than I had expected.
